Memorial Day Weekend

Over the weekend, Matthew and I enjoyed the company of both friends and family as we traveled up to Idaho and back down to Provo for Memorial Day.

The trip to Idaho was meant to included camping and hot lava springs...but the incessant rain ensured that we stay inside a lot. From star wars cards to Peggle, we found some great ways to entertain ourselves in doors.

Wallace, Gregory and Mikki's little dog was a kick this weekend. About a month ago I was trying to teach him how to bow by laying down his front two paws, putting his head down
meanwhile standing on his back two legs. This time we were up here, we made sure he learned the trick. Now he "bows" on command...that is, as long as you give him a treat afterwards.

We headed out, despite the rainy weather, for some family time in Rigby, a nearby town. Unfortunately, the TV museum which we had intended on visiting was closed for the day. This really is a shame because we are all related to the man who invented the TV, Philo T Farnsworth. He is the brother of Matthew's great-great-great+ grandfather! Cool., huh? I guess we'll have to catch the museum a little later, maybe on another trip.

At the closed museum. Matthew is standing right next to a huge bullet, one that can go 23 miles!

Meanwhile, we toured a few fun places in Rexburg/Rigby, stopping by the Old Sugar Mill which has some beautiful murals painted on the back of the building. Also, we enjoyed getting to drive past a castle of a house, complete with turrets. Brian Regan's "sun stare" comedy made for a good activity as we drove through rainy Rexburg.

The rest of the weekend flew by with great food (Mikki's an amazing cook) and inspiring lessons taught at church. And of course, no weekend with the Youngs would be complete without a game or two of BANG! I lost twice as the outlaw, but it sure was fun seeing the game unfold for the other players.

Playing Bang with the Family

Back to Provo we went early Memorial Day morning. The drive was sunny and flew by fast. When we unpacked the car at home, we started getting ready to host a little elementary-music-education get together with the girls in my major. I absolutely love all the girls in my major. Over the past 2 years, we have really gotten close. It's been a great trip...made better by a tasty lunch, talk of Hungary (a few of the girls went there for a research trip that last couple weeks), and Pride & Prejudice watching.

More family came next with our Memorial Day BBQ at the Colony Apartments. Thanks to LJ for his awesome BBQ-ing skills, and Jessie for the tasty marinated kebabs, we enjoyed a luscious meal!

The tasty Kebabs!
Our great cook, LJ
Yummy.
The Wilcox/Heaton gang
Tasty Hot dogs, too.

My silly husband. :) I love him (and his silliness) dearly.
