Wounded Wendy & Happy Heather

So...earlier last week was a bit tough. Our wonderful little Wendy car (that's what we call our Ford escort wagon) got one of her back windows completely shattered. Oh boy! But luckily, with the help of some painter's tape, talking to family (including a brother-in-law who works for Safelite glass), and a call to set up an appointment...we were able to get our Wendy car patched up.

Not quite sure WHAT caused this...besides driving on the freeway....but Matthew and I kept joking that it
looked very much like a bullet hole. No worries, though...we couldn't find a bullet shell in the trunk, so
we're pretty sure that's not what it was. ;-)

Luckily, within 2 days, Safelite auto glass came to Lehi (where Matthew works) and replaced the glass for us right there...and within a descent amount of time (and not too expensive too!).

So....within all the craziness with the car, I've REALLY enjoyed spending some more time with my hobbies....sewing and photography!

I bought a yard of canvas from IKEA a while back (under $5) and decided to turn it into a pillow case and use the excess for some adorable baby shoes. I got the pattern for the shoes off of the following site (found via pinterest!) and the shoes are SO super cute:

Then, here's the cute pillow cover I made. I like it a lot!

Me being silly with my comfy cozy pillow.
And, last but not least, my grandmother sent me this shirt (I should have taken a BEFORE picture, but I didn't) with sleeves down to the wrist. It was also a size 12 which was a bit big for me. So...I decided to up-do the shirt. I took in the side seams by about an inch, creating a better, more slim fit. Also, I chopped off the long sleeves and remade the sleeve cuffs (and button holes). Unbeknownst to me, I absolutely LOVED sewing button holes. It's like my new favorite thing to sew. :)

I was able to second-shoot a dance poster shoot with my sister, Jessie. It was super fun! The dancer/model, Rachel, is absolutely gorgeous and so athletic! Here's a few of my favorites...

WCDC - a pre-professional dance company based in Provo, UT. Get excited for their debut show at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo this October!!!
What a great last two weeks. And, it gets better! Through my BYU Independent Study class (English 313: Teaching English to Elementary Students), I've run into a great website called HappyRambles. Basically, it's an online journal progam and is SUPER easy to use. You set up an email reminder every day at a specified time and you simply reply to the email to "write" in your journal! Plus, it's name (HappyRambles) definitely does do it justice--my life has truly been happier since I've spent a few moments every day to write down what I am grateful for and how much God has blessed me.
check it out for yourself at www.happyrambles.com

What a great few weeks....and a great life I'm living.
Happy 11 months today, Matthew! --Love Heather

June Happenings : Birthday, Baby, & Babbo

June has just amazed me. It's already the 19th!!! Where does the time go?

These past few weeks have been wonderful as I've celebrated my 21st birthday (June 9th), celebrated the fact that BrookeLynne and Eric are having a baby girl this Novemeber, and celebrated my wonderful father! Here's the recap:

At the very start of June, I put together this fun little plante for my "garden".
The prophet said "Plant a Garden!". This is my old tire-rim turned into a planter for the lettuce I'm growing. Loving the green watering can my mom gifted for my birthday. Thanks!
The lettuce we are attempting to grow.

Love this new birthday blouse. Again, thanks Mom!

I've had a lot more time lately, what with the term wrapping to a close. So....I enjoyed making some nummy treats and fun crafts!
Tried this fun treat....strawberries dipped in jet puffed marshmallow cream, then toasted!

Made a cool chalkboard with the chalkboard paint my husband gifted me.

Off to dinner to celebrate Eric and BrookeLynne's baby GIRL! Congrats guys!

Nummy fried chicken at Texas Roadhouse.
What a HUGE burger.

Then, our most recent adventure included a great hike in the beautiful canyons of Provo. Pierluigi, Matthew's friend from Italy, joined us with a few other missionaries having served in that area.

~Love my husband~

Smile!
Silly.

After a warm day of hiking, we deserved some gelato from the Creamery on Ninth!

For some reason, Matthew does not look so happy about eating ice cream. :)
Bowling in the WSC at BYU was next. And Pierluigi properly beat all the other boys....not to mention this was Pierluigi's first time playing the game.

Pierluigi's turn to bowl...

A nice walk around BYU's serene North Duck pond finished off a great day! (June 16)

Next up....Babbo! FATHER's day celebrations!

What better way to celebrate fathers than with a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN at the Grandparent's house?

Miles LOVES chocolate. Look at that spread!

Ryan rocking out the horseshoes.
Derek & Dad taking a break.

Dig in boys!

A great selection of foods to dip into the chocolate. Everything from bananas and strawberries, cake and rice krispies, donuts and pretzels!

Yum Yum!

Kevin, you've got a little something, something on your face.

Beautiful flowers. Beautiful cousin.

Drip Drop Chocolate.

So far, this month has proven such a wonderful journey! I've completed yet another term of school, I've worked my butt off, and I've fallen ever more in love with my wonderful husband, Matthew. What a great trip we are on together....and what joyous experiences we enjoy every day!

May God bless you and your families....with both almonds and a PLETHORA of chocolate.

Love, Heather
